Episode 119 - The Walking Dead - Season 3, Mid-Season Recap

On today's installment of GFR Carlos and the Steves will recap the first half of Season 3 of AMC's runaway hit "The Walking Dead," which I think we can all agree is light years better than Season 2. A Review of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” a Classic Tale of Good, Evil and Moral Courage - by Tony Rossi

I can relate to Bilbo Baggins. He’s a quiet, peace-loving hobbit who has no interest in adventure because adventure makes you late for dinner. It takes you away from comfort and throws you into all kinds of unknown, possibly dangerous situations. Then again, moving beyond comfortable boundaries to experience more of what the world has to offer can be appealing. It can even be a calling.

Episode 118 - Future Possible Star Wars Films Storyline Speculation

As you can imagine all of us at GFR are still spinning over the Lucas/Disney announcement and now it's time to start speculating about future plotlines (that we've been dreaming about for the last 30 years!) Will they pull anything from the huge EU universe encompassing a treasure trove of novels and comics? Or will they go in an entirely new direction? On today's episode Carlos and Steve V. will discuss some possibilities and special contributor James will weigh in with his thoughts. Jax the Rabbit can't be any worse than Jar Jar Binks!

Happy Holidays from GFR!

Carlos had a wonderful surprise this evening! Two blocks down, someone has a light-up Christmas Yoda lawn ornament front and center of their home. He is officially, no longer, the only person geek enough to put out Star Wars Christmas ornaments in the neighborhood. Check out Carlos' walkers--which sit between the traditional white deer and Christmas bears--below. (Hand designed, thank you very much!) Now all we need is a little snow!

In the midst of Hannukah and with Christmas coming soon, we want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday! And while we want to wish everyone a holiday and new year full of health, wealth, love, and peace, we also wish the following for our fellow entertainment geeks:

- That the new Star Trek film, Into Darkness, doesn't suck.

- That the Hallmark Star Wars / Star Trek Christmas ornaments you want to buy at half-price will still be where you hid them in the store on December 26th.

- That the series finale of Breaking Bad is a winner.

- That M. Night Shaymalan won't blow After Earth.

- That your significant other surprises you with an empty shelf, closet, or room for more of your collectibles.

- That we'll hear a lot more (favorable) news about Star Wars VII in the coming year.

-That we hope you'll enjoy our full-length film commentary of Raiders of the Lost Ark (due out in a few weeks.)

Episode 117 - Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Probably no other news in 2012 caused more ripples in the Geek Universe as the announcement that Disney had purchased Lucasfilm, immediately announcing Episode 7 would be released in 2015! As you can imagine, the GFR team has a lot to say about this momentous news, so this week's episode features a round table discussion with Core Geeks Carlos, the Steves, Brian and Tony, as well as input from special contributor James. This will not be our final word on the subject!
