Episode 142 - Flash Gordon - Geek Commentary

Gordon's alive??? On this week's GFR Carlos and the Steves continue their journey through the 80s providing a commentary over the camp classic that is Flash Gordon. With its pulse pounding Queen soundtrack here's a film that never took itself seriously and found new life on cable and home video. Filled with loud colors, over the top performances and a dubbed leading man, today's overblown remakes could take a page from its book!

Return of the Jedi Memories - by Steve Vivona

I know everyone is clamoring to hear my memories of Return of the Jedi, so I figured I would oblige my adoring public!

All of us of a certain age remember how agonizing the wait between Star Wars films was. Three years felt like thirteen. We had no access to spoilers of any kind and the big reveal at the end of ESB left us all reeling. Hell, I used to have dreams about what ROTJ would be like!

I'd say the years between ESB and ROTJ represented the height of my immersion into Star Wars (ages 10-13 for me). The obsession for figures, the reading of ancillary materials like comics and novels and the desire to learn any morsel or crumb about the next film was intense.

Episode 141 - Return of the Jedi 30th Anniversary

Today on GFR it's time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi - Carlos and James will discuss all aspects of the film from where they first saw it, to the pre-movie release of the comics and storybook adaptations.  As well as the toys, the Yuzzumm (the what?), concept art, the original Revenge tiltle, and one of their current favorite character played by Billy Dee William's son - Klaatu.
