Just in time for Halloween (and just in time for its spiffy new blu ray release) Carlos and the Steves present their commentary for the theatrical version of Clive Barker's Nightbreed! And while our intrepid trio is incredibly excited to see "The Director's Cut," this version of the film has been a favorite of theirs since its release in 1990, and in their humble opinions, one of the most imaginative horror films ever made!

It's not often that we live up to the "Rants" part of GeekFest Rants, but today's episode does. This time around the Steves do NOT agree (imagine that!) when it comes to reality television. Steve V. is not a fan, but Carlos, Tony, and Steve L. are fans of shows like Survivor, so it's a rare showdown between the Geeks as they argue the merits of the reality "genre" with someone who has absolutely no use for any of it! In the end, we all agree to disagree but it makes for some interesting conversation!

How “Arrow’s” Oliver Queen Embraced the Commandment “Thou Shalt Not Kill” - by Tony Rossi

It was his time on Purgatory that turned billionaire playboy Oliver Queen into a killer. It was a reality check from his family and friends that helped him rediscover an inherent dignity to life.

For those unfamiliar with the name, Oliver Queen is the longtime DC Comics hero known as Green Arrow, an archery master whose most recent incarnation is as the subject of the popular CW series “Arrow,” created by writers/producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg. Now beginning its third season, the show so far has been largely an origin story about Oliver’s road to heroism because, initially, he doesn’t exactly fit the bill.

Join us today at GeekFest Rants as we look back at one of our final summer 2014 attended events, Connecticut ComiCONN.  Here we had a chance to chat with Ryder Windham and attend his panel. He's a special writer to us because he wrote one of our favorite Star Wars technical books, The Haynes Millennium Falcon Owner's Manual.  We also got a chance to attend a panel from actor William Katt who in the 80's portrayed The Greatest American Hero.  Plus, we get an interview with Mitch Hallock, the man behind the scenes at Connecticut ComiCONN, who made this convention possible.

On this week's GeekFest Rants, Carlos, Tony, and Steve V. report from our "mobile unit" on Marvel's monster hit, Guardians of the Galaxy, which recently became Marvel's third (behind Avengers  and Iron Man 3) highest grossing film! Where did they come from? Steve provides a sketchy overview of their history, as the team considers the next slate of Marvel films-the ones we know and the ones we're hoping for, including Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, more Avengers, Black Panther, Inhumans, etc. The possibilities are endless and the mobile unit is hotter than hell!
