Today on GeekFest Rants, Carlos examines two iconic Lucasfilm posters:  Revenge of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark.  These are some of the most highly sought after movie posters of the 80's.  Drawn by two masters of poster design, Drew Struzan and Richard Amsel.  We'll go over the progression of the design  and the possible mistakes in the production of these classic works or art.

Episode 365 - Apes Visionaries Comic - Star Wars Burger Chef and Predator Posters

Today on GeekFest Rants, Carlos dips into comics and posters.  First off, he reviews the recent Planet of the Apes Visionaries graphic novel.  This highly anticipated volume gives all Apes fans an alternate visual look at the classic story from the perspective of one of the film's original screenwriters and Twilight Zone legend, Rod Serling.  Then Carlos travels back in time to 1977 to take a look at four super cool Star Wars Burger Chef promotional posters.  This is the same art that was later in 1978 turned into Burger King glasses. Finally he takes a close look at the poster for Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1987 hit, Predator.  Here he examines how the lead actor's name becomes the main promotional draw of the movie's poster.

Episode 343 - Lost Soul - Mother Reviews - Indy Kenner Doll

Today on GeekFest Rants we are looking at two very different films.  One is the documentary Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau, the story of a film that did not get made.  However, this story is better than the actual film that was made.  The other is Mother!, the latest mind-bender from Darren Aronofsky.  Which means, as a film viewer, you will have some homework to do after watching the film.  Then we lighten things up with the original Kenner 12 inch doll of Indiana Jones from Raiders of the lost Ark.  Another Holy Grail item Carlos can now cross off his toy collecting list.

Episode 339 - Escape From NY Tie In Book - Indy 2 and Conan Posters - Black Hole Figures

Any Escape From New York fans out there? Today on GeekFest Rants, Carlos reviews the deleted scene filled, movie adaptation tie in novel of Escape From New York.  Definitely a must read.  Then we look at our posters of the month with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Conan the Barbarian.  Two iconic posters to go with two fantastic films.  And finally we continue our vintage action figure hunt with the classic Mego line from The Black Hole.  These are figures that are still evading me to this day.

Sometimes we watch great films, sometimes we watch good films, but sometimes we watch Saturn 3.  Today on GeekFest Rants, Carlos covers a great B-level (if we are very generous) sci-fi cheese-fest starring Kirk Douglas, Farrah Fawcett, and Harvey Keitel.  However, the behind the scenes troubles with the making of this film is more entertaining than the film itself.  Then we take a look at the original Kenner line of Raiders of the Lost Ark action figures. Episode 313 - Spider-Man: Homecoming - Raiders Poster - Jedi 65 Backs

Today on GeekFest Rants we review the return of our favorite webslinger in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Carlos and Kyle geek out over this new Marvel/Sony produced reboot of the iconic franchise, this time with much more Marvel flair.  Then we'll begin a new collecting focus:  movie poster collecting - our first entry, the 1982 Raiders of the Lost Ark re-release.  And finally we return to our happy place, Kenner Star Wars action figures.  Carlos will continue with his previous examination of vintage figures; this time around we start with the Return of the Jedi 65-backs line.  For Star Wars figure nerds they are as classic as they get.
